ICMM 2019 Congress - Call for Papers

A call for Short Papers for presentation at ICMM’s 2019 Congress.

The Congress will be held in Stockholm and Mariehamn, Aland, from 15-20 September.

The theme for the 2019 Congress is Making the Boat Go Faster”.

Worldwide, the Maritime Museum community is seeking new and innovative ways to remain relevant and successful and to be more efficient and effective. Indeed we are all searching for ways to “Make our boats go faster”. At the 2019 Congress in Stockholm and Aland we will explore this topic with a broad reaching programme of outstanding presenters and topics. We now invite you to be part of what will be a remarkable Congress and programme by seeking proposals for short presentations on the topics of:

  • Challenges

Tell us about some of the key challenges your institution is or has faced and how you have navigated your way through those challenges.

  • New Projects

Tell us about any exciting new projects your Museum has in progress.  This topic doesn’t need to be limited to building or restoration projects and can include the widest range of projects you might have underway.

Format

  • Each short presentation is to be 7 minutes long
  • Presentations are to be supported by PowerPoint slides, video etc. i.e, simply reading a paper is not an acceptable form of communication at the Congress.
  • The lingua franca for the Congress is English, as such all presentations are to be in English.
  • Presenters will be invited, on completion of the session, to join in a panel discussion to answer questions from the plenary.

Submission Guidelines:  A one-paragraph outline of the proposed presentation proposal plus a contact list and CVs of each participant should be sent electronically to:
