Kendall Whaling Museum
 

Mission Statement:

Few attractions anywhere in New England surpass the interest and appeal of this little jewel of a museum, nestled in the wooded hills south of Boston. Here twelve of the world’s most beautiful maritime galleries house a fine international collection of nautical art, history, and ethnology celebrating the age-old human fascination with whales.

 

Exhibits & Programs:

Uniquely beautiful treasures of maritime art, history, and nature, artworks, artifacts, and curiosities, spanning more than ten centuries and seven continents.

Dutch and Flemish paintings, engravings, and “Delft” tiles from the Age of Rembrandt

British and Continental whaling artworks spanning more than ten centuries

Japanese paintings and prints

Pacific Ocean, Eskimo, Northwest Coast Indian and other tribal art

A fully-equipped Yankee whaleboat

Ship models

Whaling gear from New England’s classic Age of Sail - including the world’s finest collection of scrimshaw.

Thirteen varieties of whales

Sunday: 1:00pm - 5:00pm
Closed: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas.
